When protection becomes a burden
Within the UNICORE-RESYST project, a research team is examining the unintended effects of COVID-19 measures in collective refugee accommodations. The interim report reveals that interventions such as quarantine, access restrictions, and service suspensions often worsened health issues, increased social isolation, and deepened structural disadvantages. The analysis calls for the urgent implementation of differentiated, context-sensitive strategies to better support vulnerable groups during crises.
